From a marketing standpoint, Maidenform has a record of utilizing interesting advertisements. Since the company is a manufacturer in women’s undergarments, their advertisements often show women in their, well, undergarments. This advertisement is no different. A woman is shown in between to jumping basketball players in just her underwear, a cropped jacket, and heels. The text states:
The Maidenform Woman.
You never know where she’ll turn up.
She’s bound to score points when she’s wearing sassy Cotton Continentals.
The lace trimmed bikini (shown here) combines the comfort of 100% cotton with the elegance of European styling. It’s just one of the many panties you can select from The Cotton Contential Collection. In a basketful of fast-breaking color.
Bikini underwear and high heels are not usually linked with basketball and basketball courts but, in the Maidenform world, they seem like a natural pairing, hence it’s inclusion into History By Zim’s “Odd Ads of the Past” series.
